SOLD: Royal Navy Longines HS3 Deck Watch (2380)

This is a Longines Royal Navy Hydrographic Service HS 3 Deck Watch dating from around 1945/6.

HS is the Hydrographic Service designation used by the Royal Navy for grading of wrist and pocket watches. HS 3 designates a Deck Watch adjusted for isochronism in a minimum of two positions.

The watch is in overall excellent condition and working very well. The heavy steel nickel/chrome plated case is in very good condition with no major scratches or gouges just some fine usage marks from it's 60+ years of usage. The enamelled dial and blued steel hands are in mint condition. The watch is fitted with a very thick bevel edged crystal which is in unmarked condition.

The watch has the Longines plated 19.70N 16 jewel movement which is in good clean condition but has not been serviced during my ownership. The watch is however keeping very good time as is to be expected for a deck watch of this calibre. The movement is numbered 6702380 and the last 4 digits of this number are also engraved on the edge knurled screw back case. There is a slight rectangular marking to the rear case around the outside of the numbering which has probably been caused by the glue from a sticker over the numbers at some stage during it's life.

A lovely high grade watch from a premier manufacturer in great condition for a military watch collector.
