For sale is a World War 2 Luftwaffe Stowa B-Uhr Navigation watch.
The watch number which is engraved on front and back of the rear cover is No. 5153 and the matching number is engraved on the movement.
The dial is 1st pattern indicating production prior to June 1942.
The dial is in lovely original condition as are the original blued steel hands. The hands still have most of their original radium luminous paint although there is some loss from the minute hand as can be seen in the photos. If a buyer prefers the hands can be re-lumed using a similar colour material to match the current aged lume.
Overall diameter is 55mm and 19.00mm thick.
Nice clean Unitas calibre 2812 movement, finished in nickel plate and with 'Geneva stripes'. Fine 'swan's neck' regulation. The movement is in good condition and running very well.
The watch winds smoothly and the 'stop seconds' function is working correctly (to enable synchronisation with another timepiece).
Replacement brown leather correct pattern strap in excellent condition.
Overall a great watch in very original condition.
The Stowa watches are not seen for sale as often as the Laco / Wempe types. This is a good opportunity for a collector to acquire a superb example of a watch which is set to increase in value as more and more collectors become aware of these fine timepieces which are such a wonderful piece of military history.
