Very original RAF Navigator's Omega 6B/159 wristwatch, issue serial number 3186/56, movement number 9974273 (movement dates from approximately 1943).
In 1956 the Ministry Of Defence (MOD) modified existing used stocks of the wartime Omega Navigator's wristwatches and replaced the dials, crowns and cases but retained the superbly accurate chronometer rated 30 T2 SC movements which had shown such sterling service during the war years. The watches had robust all steel (probably Dennison) cases and screwed steel backs.
This example has the typical MOD replacement matt black dial with tritium markers. The hands are probably the original blued steel hands which have been tritium coated by the MOD. The 30 T2 SC movement is rhodium silvered finish without shock protection and is in clean condition.
Overall the watch is in very good original condition and is running well but has not been serviced during my ownership.
For military watch enthusiasts this is an excellent opportunity to acquire a robust and accurate issued RAF timepiece.
